Always smile with your heart even if a piano just fell over you. But don't be too cheezy.

Always be nice to the kids. Smile at them like they are the CUTEST creatures you've ever seen. Parents like that. Especially the new parents.

Do it before they ask. Have the check before they ask.

Ask if they need a chair booster or a high chair.

Know the menu!!! You must know the menu.

Look the part. Make sure your clothes don't smell like smoke or something weird. I have seen this all too many times, a fellow waiter will smell like something gross and the guest make a face when the waiter is not looking.

Don't EVER say "My, what weather we're having" No no NO. No matter how nice or how terrible the weather is simply say "I heard Friday is suppose to be nice and sunny." (with a smile, of course.)"

There is always that person that doesn't know what to order because it's their first time in the joint. So advise the cooks specialty.

Take the unwanted dishes as soon as they are finished. Don't let them tell you when to take them.

If you have a big table of 8 or more. Do the "clock". Quickly stand in front of the table and mark the across from you (mentally) as number 12, then the next one to number 12's left as number 1 and so on and so forth. So when you serve their drink you have them in the "clock" order. Same goes for their food.

When the guest request something, give them the "anything is possible" look. They love that look.

Never count your tips in front of guest. it makes one look like they are greedy and we don't want greedy.

Scrap metal is everywhere! I bet if you walked outside and look down the street you would see at least 2 aluminum cans. Scraping pop cans and other metals can get you some easy money. A lot of people just throw away money when they throw out pop cans aluminum pie plates, storm doors, down spouts, gutters and many other things that can be recycled for MONEY! What I did was went out, bought a large trash can, then bought a small one for my kitchen. I put the large one in my garage. I told me family to throw anything aluminum into the small trash can. Once it becomes filled I take it out and dump it into the larger trash can. Once that is filled I take it to the scrap yard. There they weigh it and paid you on the spot with cash! Aluminum is around 70 cents per pound, depending on where you live. It takes about 12-15 pop cans to make a pound. When I fill the large trash can I make around 50 bucks. It can't get much easier than that! When I'm driving around I also keep my eyes open for scrap aluminum that people are throwing out. Just think you are also helping to save the environment by recycling. Another metal that has really gone up in price is copper. Scrap yards will also pay you for copper. I collected scrap wires that i find laying around then once I have a lot I put it into a metal trash can and melt all the plastic off the copper that is hidden inside. Fix And Sell Bikes

If your good at fixing bikes, that could be the start of a small business. A lot of people just throw out their bicycles if they are broken, old, or just want to get a new one. I see bikes sitting in front of people houses with free signs on them all the time. All you would have to do is go to walmart, buy the parts needed to fix the bike, maybe give it a new paint job. Once the bike is finished you can sell it and make a decent profit. I actually found a bike in a river when i went fishing. It didn't need much fixing so I decided to take it home. I bought a new seat for it, a new chain, sprocket, painted it and took all the rust off. I put about 40 dollars into the bike and was able to sell it for $80. So if your handy with tools and know your way around a bike then this could be a good business for you!! Breeding Pets

Breeding pets is a good way to bring in a lot of money depending on what type of pet you are going to breed. For teens the easiest pets to breed are fish, reptiles and small mammals such as Guinea pigs, mice and hamsters. If you do decide to become a breeder you might have to get a breeding license which won't be to hard. All you have to do is go to the court house in your town and apply for one. One of the easiest reptiles to breed (if your into reptiles) is the bearded dragon. They cost anywhere from 60 dollars to 400 dollars depending on their size color and many other factors. But if you want to own a really cool pet and make some money off of it too a bearded dragon is the way to go I have one myself and they are very easy and tame pets to own. For reptiles you'll need an incubator for when the reptile lays the eggs. You can make one or buy one really cheap. Look around before you buy one because you might be able to pick up a used one for a good price. You'll also need maybe 3-5 cages and probably more in the future if you decide to get serious with the breeding business. Savings Bonds

Savings bonds are an excellent way to invest your money. They are issued by the U.S treasury. You can buy them at almost any bank. Their are different kinds though, the kind I buy are called Series EE bonds. Series EE bonds are issued at 50% of their face value and reach final maturity 30 years from issuance. Interest is paid semiannually and added to the current value of the bond. They are designed to reach face value in approximately 17 years although an investor can hold them for up to 30 years and continue to accrue interest. The rate of interest is recomputed every six months at 90% of the average five-year Treasury yield for the preceding six months. Thus in the space of a decade, interest dropped from well over 5% to 1.4% for new bonds in 2008. My grandma started buying me them on my first birthday and continues to buy them for me. The first 4 were all $1000 ones then came some $500 and then $100 ones and now they are only $50 because she buys them for four kids in the family, but they are a really good long term investment if you have some money you want to invest. You can buy them as $25, $50, $75, $100, $200, $500, $1000, $5000, and $10,000 if you want to go that high. Another type of bond is the I Series bond. Series I bonds are issued at face value and have a variable yield based on inflation. The interest rate consists of two components: the first is a fixed rate which will remain constant over the life of the bond and the second is a variable rate reset every six months from the time the bond is purchased based on the current inflation rate. New rates go into effect on May 1 and November 1 of every year. The fixed rate is determined by the Treasury Department; the variable component is based on the Consumer Price Index from a six month period ending one month prior to the reset time. Like EE bonds, I bonds are issued to individuals with a limit of $5,000 per person (by Social Security Number) per year. A person may purchase the limit of both paper and electronic bonds for a total of $10,000 per year. Selling the bonds before five years will incur a penalty of three months of interest. As of mid-2008, the fixed component had declined over a decade from more than 3% to nothing—0% for new bonds. Savings bonds are always a good investment tool to keep in mind especially when you are young because they will gain a lot of interest by the time you are older. The Classic Money Jar Or Piggy Bank

Another way to save money is to use a bank such as a jar or a piggy bank. I have a glass jar that every time I get change i throw it in. Once the jar is full I rap all the change and take it to the bank. Most of the time when the jar is full I make around $100 bucks. Sometimes I put it all into my savings account, sometimes I keep it all and sometime I put some in and keep the rest. A good way to keep change is when you buy something always pay with bills don't use change then when you get home put the change into the jar. It will quickly add up over time!

Now that you have earned some money it's time to save some. The simplest way to save your money and make interest off of it is to open a savings account. Tell your parents that you want to open a savings account at their bank and I am sure they will be more than willing to help you get one started. Most banks or credit unions require a minimum deposit of $5 or more to get one started but that shouldn't be too hard. Once you start your account continue to put a little bit of money in it every time you earn some. Try not to take any out because that will hurt how much interest you make. Remember the more you have in there the more you make! When I get paid I always put at least 10% of what I made into savings. If I don't needed the money for something I usually put it all in. Another easy way to make your savings grow is to negotiate with your parents. Ask them if they are willing to match whatever you put into your account. Say you put $25 in, then they will put $25 dollars in. There you just put $50 dollars into your account and made a free $25 in the process. The Part Time Job

Well now you have turned 16 and are able to be hired for a part time job that pays min. wage which is now up to 7.15/hour! First you have to get your working permit and then start going around to local restaurants, fast food places, stores and other small business and gather as many applications as you can. Fill out the applications and return them to the place of business. When returning them it is always a good idea to ask to see the head manager and give him the application in person to make sure he receives it. If he is not in at that moment ask nicely when the next time he will be in. If you get a call for an interview you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS want to make a good impression no matter how simple or complex the job your being interviewed for is. For you guys you want to wear a shirt and tie and for the girls a nice dress or womens suit. This shows the employer that you care what they think of you on your first meet. This also shows that you are willing to wear the uniform in the correct manner. When you are speaking to the person always make eye contact and answer the questions they ask you clearly. DO NOT MUMBLE I had this problem and I practiced speaking clearly weeks before my interview and it worked. Don't get nervous if they ask you a question that you have trouble answering just answer it to the best of your ability. Here are some commonly asked questions at an interview.

Camps and Lifeguarding

During the summer there are tons of different camps going on and they are all looking for young staff to help run them. Do some research and find out what camps are going on around your area and if they are looking for staff to help run it. Camps often pay a lot of money to the staff for staying there multiple weeks. Camps are always fun to so it wouldn't be like you were wasting your time being bored. You basically get paid to have fun while running programs at a camp. A big spot that always needs filled at camps is life guarding. Ninety percent of summer camps have a pool and you can run a pool without lifeguards. Right now lifeguards are in short supply so camps are willing to pay a lot for them. Most lifeguards make around 10 dollars an hour! All you have to do is go to a class to become certified and it is really simple. Most of the time lifeguards don't need to do much while on duty because kids aren't drowning every time they step in the pool. You do need to be ready just in case the time comes when you do need to save some one's life. But for the most part you only have to sit there and enforce the rules. Tutoring? Yes you can even make money tutoring. If you are a good student and really understands a certain subject or multiple subjects you can rake in some dough that way too. Talk to some of you friends and fellow classmates and find out if they are having trouble with a certain subject. Their parents will probably pay you to help their child better understand and succeed in the subject they are having trouble with. Some students make anywhere from $5 to $20 an hour by tutoring. Your not only making money for you but it also gives you a good feeling that you are helping some one succeed with something they are having difficulties with. Hey maybe even in the future that person you helped may become rich and famous and recognize you for helping them get through the tough parts of their lives and maybe even hire you for a job you really wanted or a high paying job. Another job dealing with computers is creating websites. If you know how or are good at making websites make a couple as examples. Then advertise once again that you can make quality websites for buisness, bands, organizations, th elist goes on. At first you would only make a little bit of money, but once you get the hang of it and start creating magnificent websites you could easily get paid $200 dollars or more to create a website. Who knows you might be seen by a famous band or company and they'll pay you BIG!! bucks for a website. The opertunities are endless when it comes to the world of electronics. The Infamous Paper Route

Throwing a paper on a porch while riding your bike or walking and getting paid for it WHAT AN EASY JOB! You also get exercise while delivering newspapers too. If you need a job being a paperboy is an easy way to earn money. Call up your local newspaper company and ask to get on the waiting list for a route close to your house. Sometimes you get lucky and they give you the job right then and there if they need someone for your area. Try and get a route with a lot of papers because the more papers you deliver the more money you bring in. Some paper boys/girls make $100 to $200 bucks every 2 weeks just by delivering newspapers. I delivered newspapers before I got a real job. I did it for six year and made about $60 to $70 dollars every 2 weeks. Another benefit of being a paper carrier is that around Christmas your customers give you large tips as a gift in addition to your regular paycheck!! Now that sounds like a deal! A good tip is too go to the dollar store and buy a bunch of Christmas cards real cheap give everyone of your customers one maybe a week or two before Christmas. This will show that you are a nice and caring person and they will be more likely to give you a nice time. I had around 50 customers and every Christmas I would collect over 300 dollars in tips!! That is the honest truth. So it pays off to be a good paper carrier, be nice to your customers, if they ask you to place their paper in a certain spot do it for them, deliver on time, just be an all round good person and you will be rewarded in the end.

Babysitting has been a job for teens for a very long time. It too is a good way for teens to make money. It could be you own little business if you wanted to make it into one or just a simple job every so often. If you really wanted to get serious with it you could first make flyers to hang up and pass out. Talk to you relatives and close friends to see if they need a babysitter even try asking the people at your church who have young kids. Once you make some money from babysitting you could go out and buy some toys, crayons, coloring books etc. that you can take along with you to have the kids play with. Most people who babysit charge by the hour which is a good idea. You could base it off of how many kids you are watching and other things you can think of. A really good idea is to take a CPR class to become CPR certified. If you decide to take this route it could earn you some extra money becuase parents or guardiens of the childeren you are watching will see that their kids are in good hands. They also have babysitting classes that you can take to help you learn new things about babysitting. The website that I have used in the past is yessy.com, they only charge you $59 dollars a year which is not that bad considering you can sell a really good piece of art for almost that much. On the site you build your only gallery that can be viewed by anyone. They give you a free 14 day free trial and you can cancel it before the 14 days are up and you won't be charged. I made almost $100 dollars just during the free trial!! So if you are good at drawing, painting, crafts or anything else along those lines you could bring in some nice cash using this method.

PS. If you like photography and take some really nice pictures you could sell those too on the web. The site I mentioned above will let you sell photos on their as well. Be creative, have fun and reap the benefits!!

The good old lawn mower

One of the most classic money making ideas is pushin the ol' lawn mower. Many people don't want to or have time to mow the grass and are willing to pay someone else to take care of the burden for them. Thats where YOU come in. It's not that hard of a job to do it's just a little time consuming. But it can be very rewarding. All you have to do to get started is to find a lawn mower to use which is not hard at all seeing as your parents probably already own one. I'm sure if you ask them to use it to cut other people's grass to make a little extra cash they will be fine with the idea. They may make you pay for the gas though (mine did) but that won't cost you too much because you can probably mow quite a few lawns with a full tank. You can easily make flyers to pass out or hang up advertising your small lawn mowing business. I did this for 2 summers to save up money towards an iPod, Xbox 360 and other little thing such as spending money for vacaition. What I did was had a calender and made "appointments" with people to cut their grass regularly every week or 2 weeks depending on what they wanted. It worked out very well and I made quite a bit of money, so if you are willing to put in the time you could make a decent profit.

Another place to you could cut grass at would be your church if it sits on a large piece of property. It just so happens that my church owns 24 acres and the person who used to be the grounds keeper quit. So I jumped on the chance to become the new grounskeeper and IT WORKED! I now cut the grass at my church for $8.25 and hour! They pay for the gas and just bought a new zero turn lawn mower so I keep all the money I make from it. That brings in about $150 a month which isnt bad at all. So see if your church needs a groundkeeper. Making a little bit of money here and there!

The first way a you can make money is to ask your parents for an allowance. Not every teen gets one, maybe because of family financial reasons or they want you to work for it by doing chores (I always had to work for mine) but others may get one every week to use as spending money for things you want to do during the week. The average allowance given to teens is between 5 to 30 dollars a week. If you need a little more maybe consider negotiating with your parents to give you more.
If you get good grades your parents might give you money for every A or B you get so keep your grades up because it will pay off now and in the future! If you really get desperate for some money you could always do your siblings chores for money. I have done that and it works cause sometimes my brothers didn't feel like doing some of their chores so I did them and got their pay.

Take a look around your room, open up your closet. I bet you can see a lot of old stuff you no longer use that is just sitting there taking up space and collecting dust, am I right? You could easily have a yard sale to sell all your old junk and make a little extra cash off of it. You could also take the eBay route if you have stuff to sell. I had binders full of Pokemon, digimon, and Yu Gi Oh cards that i collected when i was little. Now that I'm older they just sat around so I decided to sell them on eBay. Turns out that i made an easy 200 bucks selling all of them on the eBay as three different lots. So there are some easy money making ideas that work pretty well, but that is only the first of my ideas there are more to come that could earn you even more money so stay tuned .
